Pennsylvania Voter Information

What is on the ballot?

Pennsylvania has important statewide elections this year.

On November 8, 2022, Pennsylvanians will vote for:

  • U.S. House of Representatives
  • U.S. Senate
  • Governor
  • Lieutenant Governor
  • State House of Representatives (for all House Districts)
  • State Senate (for even-numbered Senate Districts)

Important dates

General Election for US House and Senate, Governor, Lt. Gov, State House and Senate

  • Monday, October 24, 2022: Last day to register to vote
  • Tuesday, November 1, 2022: Last day to request mail-in or absentee ballot.
  • Tuesday, November 8, 2022: Election Day. Polls open. Mail-in and absentee ballots must be received by your county election board by 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Know your rights

Under Pennsylvania law, you have a right to:

Vote with a felony conviction if you:

  • Are awaiting trial on felony or misdemeanor charges;
  • Will be released from a correctional facility or halfway house by Election Day;
  • Are on probation or parole; or
  • Are under house arrest.

You can also vote if you have been convicted of a misdemeanor.

ID requirements

If you are voting for the first time at your polling place, you must present identification. The following are acceptable forms of ID:

  • PA driver’s license or PennDOT ID card
  • Student ID
  • Firearm permit
  • ID issued by the U.S. Government or any PA state or local government agency
  • Employee ID
  • Current utility bill or bank statement
  • U.S. Passport
  • Voter registration conformation issued by your county election board
  • Your recent paycheck
  • U.S. Military ID
  • Non-photo ID issued by the U.S. government or PA government
  • Government check

LDF’s Voting Rights Defender (“VRD”) project broadens monitoring and tracking of voter suppression efforts in targeted jurisdictions months in advance of Election Day to identify as early as possible those suppression measures that warrant a responsive action.
